I'm going to be rebuilding my engine this winter, and I've been thinking of installing a stroker kit. I don't know a whole lot about engine building, but with the help of a friend with a bit of experience and a few manuals, I should be able to get the job done.
Anyway,I have been told that if I plan on driving the car regularly, which I do, to not stroke to 347ci because of oil consumption and decreased reliability. Instead, I've been told instead to stroke to 331ci.
Anyone have any input, or experience regarding stroking the 302? Is it worth the cost?
I have come across this 331 stroker kit on Ebay, and the price seems great, but I'm not familiar with any of the componants. If someone can take a look and offer any advice it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Most kits nowadays don't have rings that intersect with the pins....that cause the oil problems, however....if it was me i'd build a 331 or 327 stroker for street use. The long stroke/rod tends to put alot of pressure on the piston skirt and can cause premature wear/scuffing leading to eventual skirt failure/piston slap. Don't be cheap with internal componets...use brand name stuff, Eagle, Scat ect. Alot of the cheaper parts made by offshore/China GENERALY will require machining due to nasty tolerances/craftmaship. A cast nodular steel crank will be fine, but use good rods (h-beam or I-beam) and good pistons (forged if any kinda power adder will be used....nitrous) hope that helps. Jeff
Hi there nothing wrong with the building a 347 stroker I have built many 347's in the past for friends and my self i never put one in a pinto my pinto i went with a boss 429 big block but i did build a 347 for my 89 t-Bird and my 95 mustang and they work very well there ready made kits for them from ford it self also from jeg's and summit and the fact is they most planty full kits the 308,327, and 331 are harder to find
