Title: Took the Turbo Pinto to an Auto-X
Post by: 77turbopinto on October 16, 2006, 04:44:19 PM
Not my first time to do it, but won't be the last either (NEED A BIGGER FRONT BAR). The only reason I took it was that my trailer brake controler went out.

Please note WHO is in the FIRST photo!!

The Pinto and I are in one other, I am also in the last one with the "run-off" car, 4th from the left.

My club, FCSCC had it's driver of the year run-offs that day. The last list in the results page for 15 Oct. has the info.

Most impressive, Bill! Are you the only person racing with an antique plate ( http://www.cartct.com/results/10-15-06/10150601.jpg )? Where in Bristol do they hold those events (some company's big-a** parking lot it appears).

Just noticed the Spitfire has an antique registration also: http://www.cartct.com/results/10-15-06/101506221.jpg

Again, very cool! I remember many years ago when I was a kid my dad took me up to the autocross that used to be held in the "Two Guys" parking lot on the Berlin Turnpike. I still have vivid memories of the big muscle cars smoking the tires like crazy trying to get around the course, while the little sports cars got around quickly & efficiently--no muss, no fuss. Good entertainment.

Way to go Bill!!!I have tried about every kind of competition you can compete in with an automobile at one time or another.I'm sad to anounce that I completely zoop at all of them except drag racing.I sure had a lot of fun tearing up some nice machinery though. My hat is off to anyone who can successfully compete in anything where you have to turn the wheel for more than just a correction. Are you going to be doing the roundy round thing again this year?

My mom and dad used to compete in these back in the early 70's. They drove Opals, mom had a cadet as I recall and I still have pictures of dad's Opal GT. Mom and dad had fond memories and I used to hear stories of their adventures w/fast cars.

Enjoy  ;D

I'm impressed cookieboy--you have bona-fide gearhead genes!!!

My dad was never a gear-head, but he was intererested in cars. Along with a few of those Two Guys autocrosses, he also took me to several Chatham, Massachusetts dune buggy races (it's on Cape Cod and our family used to vacation there), and also a few antique auto shows in CT too (Belltown in East Hampton being the one I most clearly remember).

Thanks all.

In this one I have a little body roll:

Glad I have Cobra II front and rear bars in the car. It needs a bigger front bar but I am afraid it might rip the front end off.
