Title: Seat belt buzzer
Post by: 78squirewagon on October 16, 2006, 09:13:58 AM
I would like to get my seat belt buzzer and light to start working again. I looked and it's hooked up on the drivers side and the fuse is new. Any ideas?

Thank for the help

Mark

Maybe through the years someone has unplugged the connector from the buzzer and light behind the dash? I am sure you have looked, but just offering.

Nope, lever looked there. I was just going through the manual and realized that I had never seen the light come on or hear it buzz. I will take the dash apart this weekend (if it does not snow) and check it out. I have to replace a turn signal bulb anyway.
What am I looking for with the buzzer?

If memory serves, remove the glove box internal, just a few screws. Through that hole, the buzzer is above and a little to the left, towards the heater controls or vents, depending on whether or not you have A/C. You might find the buzzer attached to the dash with no wires. At least you should see a set of wires with a connector, looks like a turn signal relay connection. Someone may have pulled the buzzer loose and discarded it, who knows. I would think that they just unplugged wires until they silenced it. I have a '76 with the dash apart in the garage. If you need additional help, let me know.

BTW- you do know there is a connection under the seats that connects to a seat mounted switch, that being unplugged would also give no buzzer or light, just thought of that.

I checked under the seats and they were both connected. I will look in the other spots you suggested and see what I find. I really appreciate all of your help. The next thing I am going to start trying to fix is the hatch switch and alarm/light (if it has one). I know the wagon had/has a switch that I need to replace but I am not sure about anything else. I just saw that in the manual as well
