Title: You guys will think this is crazy!
Post by: spritesandspirits on October 10, 2006, 09:01:47 PM
I am looking for information on the 2.9 "Cologne" V-6.    My son and I are building a HotRod out of a 1959 Bugeye Sprite.  Folks have put Chevys and Wankel's in these engine bays...but the one 2.9 I saw seemed pretty skinny.

I'll need information on the transmissions...planning on making it easy and will use an automatic.  I need information on the track width of the rear ends.   It would be ideal to find a V-6 in rebuildable condition...a good automatic tranny...and rear end assembly.

Can you send me in the right direction?

the 2.9 came in the ford ranger truck and the imported merkur scorpio car.the 2.8 v6 came in the imported ford capri 74-78. the mustang II 74-78. the fox body mustang for 79 model year. and ford pinto 75-79 and last for ranger 83-85 model year.i hope that helps.. your choice of auto are. c3, c4, from 74-79 . the c5 from 83 to 85 in the ranger and a4ld . thats the overdrive one based on the c3. its in the ranger from i think 87 to 93 for the 2.9  keep surfing the net and you will find the info there. i hope this helps
