Title: Distributor won't fit
Post by: Poppabill on January 30, 2004, 05:04:37 PM
Bear with me on this one. I pulled a stripped{no distributor, carb, ect. ect.} 2300 Pinto motor out of an '80 and sent it off to be machined. Bored and shaved.  when it came back I put it back together and went to put my DuraSpark distributor from a '75 into the block of the '80 and the shaft on the distrib wont go into the hole in the block. Its too big. I thought all Pinto distribs were inter changeable. Could I have a Ranger block instead of a Pinto block. The guy at the macine shop does'nt know anything about a switch. Can anybody help me.

All 2.3 dist will fit 2.3 blocks. you should not be having probblems. there is no difference between the years .

Poppabill, are you sure that the distributor is too large for the hole or is it hanging up on the oil pump driveshaft ?
