As far as I know, Pintos didn't come from the factory with rear speakers. But I used some Ford speaker grills to imitate a factory look.
Here are the before pictures.
Here's the side panel removed and then a 1/4" plywood filler added.
Here's the back side. The filler is held in with screws, fender washers, and Liquid Nails.
Plus the speakers that I am putting together.
Here's the plastic panel cut out and test fitted for the speaker grill.
Here's the metal panel cut out and then the plastic panel installed over it.
Here's the speaker and grill installed and a view of the back side.
Here's the speaker on the other side and my indash. The indash is in progress. That was a long afternoon project.
You could probably do this on a hatchback. Those little lids on the sides call out for at least 3.5'' speakers. If not, cut those holes out for much bigger speakers!
Now on to the front speakers!
darn good job on the install at the rear
lookin good dude!
Thanks for the good words!
BTW, is there a shallow sub-woofer, less than 3.5" deep, that I could install in the liftgate?
