I have been told.... that the 3 door hatchback and trunk models use the same quarter panels thru all years 71 thru 80
is this true??? does anybody know what years are compatible???
3 door hatchback and trunk models use have different part numbers for the 1/4 panels meaning that they are different. However you may be able to use pieces to patch either one as long as you do not need the part that meets the hatch or the back window. 73-80 use the same panels, not sure about 71-72.
quarter pannels are listed as different BUT the old patch pannels listing are the same. looking at the quarters I have cut out, the diffence is not the parts you see from the side its the area where the trunk meets the window, the hatch has a longer lip of course.
I wouldnt replace a complete quarter unless its rely hammered. Other wise I would replace the areas infected with damage.
Best of luck

Thanks Guys, looks like patch work is what will be done... the only part of concern is the back part of the quarter that wraps around to the tail lights. You can push a finger thru that part and is the main reason for patches. If it was just the flat spot on the sides might not even need em'
