E85 fuel has finally made it here to my city. Id like to try it. Dont have an intrest in running it full time, but id liked to try it still. Can my lil 76 pinto run it? It has a 9:1 compression ratio according to chiltons, and thats what is required to run e85 i think. I've heard its easy to convert a car to run e85, i just really dont wanna do a whole lot to it unless i can run e85, and save money. You will use more e85 than gasoline, but it has a much higher octane rating.........so maybe it could be run with a 2.3 turbo? Any thoughts or comments on any of this?
Yes E85 would work great. You will need to open up the jets to allow for the higher fuel requirements. I'd get a second carb and slowly open up the primary jet until it seems right then work on the secondary for wide open throttle situations. With the second carb you can always switch back to gas.
