Title: New Pinto Owner, Stupid Question
Post by: sharpe on September 24, 2006, 08:22:33 PM
I just bought a 1980 Pinto. Tried searching the forums but, couldn't find out what the "Pony" is on the side of my fender.
Thank You.

As far as I know, it is just a name for a certain type of trim package.  Pony, MPG, Ralle, are a few that come to mind.

I recall that in the very late seventies, a few cars were being sold in stripped down, plainer than plain versions.   Chrysler had the Plymouth Horizon Miser.   Ford had the Pinto Pony.   The all-time award for cheapness went to GM with its stripped down Chevy Chevette.   I think it was called a Chevette Sprint.  It was actually built without a back seat.

The only stupid questions are the ones we should have asked and didn't.
