Back in July at the all ford show at Norwalk Raceway in Norwalk,Ohio I met a vendor that sold gas hood supports. It lets you get rid of the factory hood support. When i talked to them they did not have any supports for a Pinto.after a half hour talk they said that they would like to put a set on one.My friend Mike had his 80 trunk model there,so they took pictures of the install and it is now in there web sight.[www.redlinetuning].I bought a set for the Rallye and installed them my self in about a half hour.I will buy another set for my wagon sometime soon.I think these supports are great.Take a look at the web sight and see for yourself.
Maybe it's just my cynical side coming out, but I wouldn't expect that a lift cylinder designed to be used on the INTERIOR rear of a vehicle to be particularly happy when subjected to underhood temperatures all it's life, and would not expect a long lifespan from this installation-IF the vehicle is being driven often. On a show car it wouldn't matter.
Sorry, I should have said "......BASICALLY designed......"
Aside from their bracketry, this appears to be a standard design rear lift cylinder with some minor alterations of materials.
It would seem that if Redline had confidence in their product the stainless models at least would have a lifetime warranty, as even most of the low priced STANDARD rear lift cylinders have a lifetime warranty from most chain auto parts stores.
On the other hand, it WOULD be more useful than spending one's money on a VORNADO, fuzzy dice, or a fur covered steering wheel......
