$1.55 reg unleaded, in Big Spring,Tx..  And we have a large refinery in this town, surrounding towns sell for $1.43 and it's from the same refinery. That's shipping gas 40 & 60 miles away @.12 cent cheaper @ the pump.  ???

$1.79 for 87 octane, $1.89 for 89, and $1.99 for 90 in the Fairbanks-North Pole AK area.
The Trans-Alaska Pipeline runs right by North Pole, and there is a refinery here.  Gasoline and jet fuel get shipped 370 miles south to Anchorage by railroad and sold there for less than we pay here.  ???

Yeah well, regular over here in West Covina and Riverside in SoCal, is around $2.50.  Yet because my car chooses to ping with regular, I must pay around $2.70 for good premium.  This is a bigger problem because for some reason we cant figure out, my car also sucks away gas like there is no tomorrow.  Hope i can get that solved or at least hopefully the gas prices go back down. Some of you may know that I haul gas for a living. Last week our wholesale price jumped 11 cents one night and 9 cents the next. Add to that .184 cents a gallon federal tax and .17 cents a gallon state tax. Ouch! My boss makes less when the price goes up he does better when it starts to drop. The big boys are the ones making it right now.

As of 1:51AM Saterday morning here in Wichita,Kansas  the price of High test is $3.27 a gallon. I stocked up this morning and paid $3.17. I mean to tell you folks that this is getting scarry. I feel that it would be wise to start watching your fuel tanks because the hose boys are going to be out. I can't begin to comprehend what is around the corner but the fuel prices alone are going to spread the gap real fast and wide between who has and who has not. The best we can do for ourselves is to keep costs down as much as possible and ride this thing out.

I'll bet sevearl of our more "sheltered" Pintos will be out & about now with thier decent MPG. I'm getting in the 25mpg range with a fresh tune up & a small twist of the "lean it out" screw. Maybe I'm lucky, mt '74 will run on ALMOST anything that burns.
That being said Gas has stabilized at 2.99/Gal here for the last 3 days

Remember when we never thought a $2 gallon of gas would be cheap??
sigh, hope it keeps trending down. But i dont ever hope to see it at 1.25 again.  :'(
Since prices near $3 a gallon and higher i figured out a way to get better gas mileage in my 2.0 focus and 2.3 ranger. Drive the speed limit!! LOL  I get near 26 to 27 average in my ranger now vs 20 b4 and 35 average in the focus vs 28 mpg.  ;D

$2.33 for the cheap stuff about an hour and a half ago at Shell in Wilmington, IL.  I don't remember $0.19 a gallon, but I do remember paying $0.72 a gallon before.  Back in the good old days, when $5 could get you a few days driving a beat up, pea green '73 Yacht with a 305 around town.  Now $5 barely gets me an 1/8 of a tank.

Theres Illegal Mexicans driving around here are in better cars than 90% of the school.  And Im the one who goes out and busts my but for a crappy minimum wage.  They dont work their parents( Illegals ) do and make plenty of money for ten families.  I say we throw them all in the Army and make fight for our country if they want to live here and then make them all pay taxes.

$2.99 9/10 yesterday in Joliet, IL

So, What do you all think?  While our government is looking into the price gouging at the gas pumps, maybe they can outlaw that ridiculous 9/10 ths of a cent.  Because really, when you look at the sign and see that it's $2.99 9/10 don't you say to yourself, "It's 3 friggin' dollars!"

As for how high the price of fuel is getting, don't let the oil companies snow-ball you with that "summer blend, cleaner burning" story.  My father retired from a refinery and pointed out to me that the "summer blend" does cost more than what they sell in the winter.  Yeah, pennies on the FINISHED DRUM... NOT on the gallon.  You can also see the price gouging in diesel fuel, which costs a lot less to make than gasoline due to less refining.  And yet, the price is up there right along side the gasoline price, isn't it?
