can anyone tell me what i will have to do in order for my pinto to accept the 289 i just bought? motor mounts, transmission, rear end? will everything handle it? little mods to the motor pretty much stock but new cam, port-n-polished heads i was told by a friend to tie the frame rails together im not totally sure what to do with that or if it will be nessesary post if you can help thanks Chris
I think its the same as any V8 swapp although the 289 is a small block.
The 302 and 289 blocks mount the same, I used MustangII V8 motor mounts. Very little modification. The tranny mount was reversed, 2 new holes drilled and she dropped right in...so to speak.
Hey Turbopinto this looks like a good subject for the FAQ
Once the motor is in will the stock tranny and rear end handle the V8 or do i need to replace them?
