What are some options other than an engine swap to get more power from this stock 2.3 in my 1980 automatic Pinto?
Turbo!! ;D
Head work, including port job, big valves and a cam with adjustable pully.
Ok is it reasonable to expect 130HP from an otherwise stock 2.3 if i add a mild street cam, 4bbl and header?
You dont need a 4bbl carb. I would use a 500cfm 2 bbl which would bolt right on and work just as well.
here's one for free:
Dissassemble the distributor and flip the advance plate. There are twon notches in the plate, flip it so the limiter is in the long notch and you'll get a better advance curve and easier starting.
