Well I think i bit off more than I can chew, I bought a turbo 2.3L in a 1980 pinto, the guy i bought it from installed a haltech aftermarket injection controller. Im having hell, i got it to start and idle and run to about 2000 rpm
questions? inital timming needs to be set at 10 degrees?
#2 does the ford computer increase any more timming or does it stay at 10 degrees? all the time? I dont know much about the stock computers or electronic injection, the model is a HALTECH F10X
it only controls injection, not timming? is this a problem?
i have a methonal injected mustang with a 410 stroker with timming locked out at 34 degrees,
with the turbo 2.3 does it need a computerized advance of what?
any help would be appreciated
thanks

10* is the base timing with the SPOUT un-plugged. After you set the timing and plug it back in it will jump around in the 20* to 24* range at idle when fully stock.
Sorry but it sounds like you might now know why he sold it. With a full out race set up you will have some issues, and big-time with a locked advance.
Have you been on TurboFord.net? I would do some searching and maybe drop a question or two. Stop in at the B/S section first and say "hi". (it goes a long way)

so what your telling me is "yes" it needs the computer or no it doesnt/ what about a retard under boost?
yes I figured out thats why he sold it but i might have to buy a different system of a ingition computer of csome sorts , this is going to be fun research.
Ive tried to get on turboford but havent got admin approval yet/ i dont know what taking so long.

If it needs it for the advance or not depends on what you want from the car. An EFI car NEEDS a comp., but there are different ways to manage the required systems.
It sounds like the last owner had set it up for racing.
If you want to drive the car on the street, you might want a more stock like set-up. I am not saying stand-alones are bad for the street(I want one at some point), but I have no experience with YOUR set-up.
If you want to get the car running and tweak it from there, just get a full stock system. Yes, the stock comp has the ability to pull the timing if needed. Some people run with the KS unplugged to keep it from doing that, but YOU NEED TO TUNE THE CAR FIRST WITH A WIDEBAND to be safe.
You don't need to be registered over there to do searches.
With the timing it has I think "idle" will be at about what you have now.
