I am thinking of adding warning lights off to the side of my gauges,so if I'm not paying attention to the gauges I will see the light.
Has anyone ever done this? I would like to figure out how to do this,if anyone has done it or at least knows how please let me know what to do!!! Thanks
Warning lights use a different sender than an electrical, or in the case of a mechanical gauge, which will have no sender. A "T" could be used to attach the proper sender for a light along with the connection for a mechanical gauge or the sender for an electrical gauge. For temp, it may be easier to find two locations for the light sender and the gauge hookup. Senders for lights are triggered by reaching a preset threshold, whether it's a high temp or low oil pressure, causing a gound and the "idiot" light to glow.
The water temp should be easy enough on the intake, the volt meter light should go down to the alt. with a sender in-line somewhere and then I should need a T off the oil pressure to fit both the sender and the mechanical gauge?
That sounds right, let me know if I'm on the right track on this... Thanks
Back in 1981-1982, I owned a 1980 Chrysler Cordoba. This car came had an amp-meter with a charge/discharge needle. It also had a tiny red light that came on when the needle was too deep into the discharge range. I thought it was a great idea and I figured it would catch on, but aside from the yellow light that tells you your fuel gauge is nearing the empty range, it never did.
Perhaps you can find inspiration from the wiring diagram of the 1980 Cordoba?
Thanx,I'll check into that!!!!
