Anyone around northeastern Oklahoma, drop by the Tulsa Fairgrounds on Feb. 13-15 to see the Darryl Starbird Car Show. This show draws about 1200 cars, and yes, ONE Pinto!
I will be there with my 1974 Sedan. You can preview it at www.classicpinto.com
Hope to see you there!
Dave
Need pics when it's over to post here!
Howdy Scott,
I won top 5 in my class! The class was 'Original/Restored '70-'80'. There were in excess of 1000 cars in this show, and once again, I was the only Pinto!
Do you want me to post pictures here in this thread and let you place them wherever you want? That would be fine with me, or do you want them in an email? Just let me know. I am selecting some good ones tonight. I will post them tomorrow.
Dave
This is a front shot of my exhibit. I built a corral for my little pony.
This is a rear shot. I built a kiosk with info about my car and some old ads on the sides. I have a book on top that has sales brochures from every year the Pinto was sold, '71-'80.
This show is sponsored by Darryl Starbird, the creator of over 500 custom cars in the past 40 years. He has a museum in northeastern oklahoma and can be visited at www.darrylstarbird.com on the web. The show is held in an '11 acres under one roof' building in Tulsa. There are over 1000 cars in the show annually.
I was the only Pinto again!
I wanted to point out a few bits in this closeup. I found a Chiltons manual with a Pinto on the cover that resembles mine. Also, on the windshield is an original factory photograph/press release from mid-1970 introducing the Pinto that was released on September 11, 1970.
The Pinto always generates a lot of interest at car shows. It seems everyone has a Pinto story of some kind from their past.
The calendar girls loved the Pinto too!
Scott, if you think this is inappropriate to post here, please feel free to remove it.
I guess not! It made the home page! I have a few more of the girls if you would like to see them. They are as clean as this, just different poses :P
And best of all, I won a trophy! My class was 'Original/Restored 1970-1980'. There were approximately 30 cars in the class and I placed in the top five.
Pinto's in car shows, it's a blast! I wrote down about 50 comments that people made as they walked by. I will post them somewhere if I can figure out where might be appropriate.
Long live the Pinto!
Absolutely Excellent!!!!
YES, YES, This is what this hobby needs, Pintos in car shows winning awards!
You can post ANY pictures of car shows on this site, it's your site as well you know.. I have always said that this is NOT my website but every Pinto owners site. We all decide how to best use this site to benefit all of us!
Way to Go!
Nice job! And congrats on the trophy! Now,...... I'd like to order a poster size of the one with the ladies! ;D lol
pretty sweet stuff!
the stories and comments people say are great.
best one I can remember: "I've always wanted a Pinto, but everybody laughed at me! But I dont care! I love them!"
Wow
Nice, congrats on the win. I hope I have a Pinto thats nice enough to show one day.
