Title: Pinto intake manifold on a Ranger ?? can it be done
Post by: fujioko on August 07, 2006, 04:48:57 PM
Hello folks,

I'm a new member.. although I don't have a pinto anymore.

Anyway my dad has an '83 Ranger pickup 2.3L with a Carter feedback carburetor.  The feedback computer got zapped when they welded some more metal on the little truck.

I'm not going to try and fix the feedback system, it's a real mess.

Would a Pinto intake manifold fit the  2.3L Ranger engine?  I realize they are the same engine, however maybe an expert and guide me as to any differences (if any).

I want to put a Pinto carb and manifold on the Ranger to keep the truck going a few more years.

Would anyone have a stock manifold and good carb for sale?

Thanks

Jim

I have a 84 ranger that I have run Pinto intakes on with NO Problem... the engine I just pulled out had a pinto style intake...

the feed back system is lame and the Ignition on the ranger is weak too.

I swapped mine to a duraspark II from a Pinto as well...

Hope this helps
Frank

Hi 'ya Frank,

That helps a lot!

The next problem is locating a good manifold and carb.

The truck is 750 miles away and its one hell of a trip to get there.  I hope I can line up the required parts and fix the truck a week or so after labor day.
