I thought this would be a great topic as I know I am at least really interested in this.
I've heard of 2.3s having 2barrel holley carbs, single barrel weber carbs and 4 mikuni carbs. Anyone care to share some specifics? Part numbers, which setups are direct bolt on, what setups are better for economy, what is better for race etc would be great!
I bolted on a stock 2 bbl Motorcraft from a mid 70's v-8 as a temporary carb and it actually ran pretty good.
Any difference in power/mpg?
It was a 1/4 mile car running 14:1 comp with a .510 lift cam, It didn't see much street use.
I can imagine running 14:1 compression it couldn't see much use as it probably wouldn't work well without race gas.
I RUN A HOLLY 350 ON MY MINI STOCK, BOLTS RIGHT ON MY STOCK 2.3 MOTOR. YOU WILL NEED A 1/2 INCH SPACER BETWEEN CARB AND INTAKE. IT GETS OFF THE CORNERS ALOT BETTER, MAX RPM WAS 6500 KNOW I'M HITTING ABOUT 72OO. OF COURSE THATS WITH A 8" REAREND WITH 410 GEARS IN IT. I FOR SHURE GET MORE OUT OF IT.
I FORGOT ONE THING, MAKE SHURE THE JETS ARE A 57. THATS WHERE I GET THE BEST BURN AND HORSEPOWER.
We used a 4412 holley on our circle track pinto. Its the larger 500 cfm carb. It ran great when it was to the floor. It doesnt have much for regular driving though it seems to flood itself out on throttle in. It does really good on my 200 ci six in the maverick though plenty of gas and a big boost from the single barrel that was on it.
