I found a nice 74 pinto wagon here in missouri that i want really really bad. I can tell it has a new carb on it. I opened the hood and it LOOKS like there is a 2.3 in there but i got to thinking about it, the 2.0 looks about the same. If the engine is a 2.0, will a 2.3 bolt on the 2.0 frame mounts, or will i have to get the frame mounts from a 2.3 car? I will take the 2.3 out of my wrecked 76 if i have to, or i might just drive it with the 2.0. Will the transmission from the 2.3 bolt to the 2.0 and vice versa?
As the owner of a 74 Squire wagon I hope you get it. Does it still have the valve cover tune up sticker. That will tell you what size motor it is. I know you cannot use the 2.0 frame mounts with the 2.3 but I have a question. I have the engine out of mine for the EFI conversion and noticed that on my car the frame mounts are bolted in. So I assume the 2.0 frame mounts are the same way. Seems to me you should be able to just unbolt from one and bolt in the other.

Yeah thats what i was wondering too, if a 2.0 and 2.3 both went up to the same frame mount. I figured the 2.0 mounts would be different. Heres a pic of the wagon. I think ill be able to get it, i sure hope so.
Good luck getting that pinto to replace the wrecked one... looks in good shape for a 74.
Well i talked to the guy today, i am going to be the proud owner of a 1974 ford pinto wagon!! He said if i will give him a $100 deposit that he will take the for sale sign out of the window and wait for me to get my check from the insurance company to pay the remainder. So i should have this car by next weekend. It does not run, but my 76 didnt run when i got it either and it wont take long to get it going.
Congrat`s on the deal! The body look`s in real good shape!
I`ll bet with a little knuckle scrapin` you`ll have `er up `n runnin`...
Don`t forget to post more pic`s!!! :amazed:

Will do. If i remember right, the engine was clean. And the floorboards looked solid, or atleast the drivers side one was. Since there are no holes in floor, the carpet is all intact. The door on the driver sides is quiet and opens and closes better than the one one my current pinto. The drivers side however is another story. For some reason, you have to lift up on it to get it to close. I think it is just worn hinge pins and bushings tho. Or so i hope.
