What would the South African equivalent be to a Pinto, reason I am asking is I saw the post re the C3 and 2.3L, we have that in our Sierra, (Merkur I think in US), and ours has always been sluggish, once the engine has got up to speed it stays there, but getting there is the problem.
There again ours is the German Koln 2.3L engine, probably not the same as your 2.3's.

IIRC the 2.3 Sierra had the exact same powerplant as the Pinto. Well actually the Fox chassis Mustangs of the same era. The Turbo swap we talk so much about is from a Merkur XR4Ti ('87-88) The US version of the Sierra. The "Pinto" or "Koln" engine has been in continuous production since '74, at least in the US. In a modified form it still powers the current generation Ford Ranger pickups.
