Title: Door Seals from Auto Krafters
Post by: snakeriver_man on July 28, 2006, 06:18:40 PM
I called Auto Krafters about the doorseals for '71-'79 Pintos' and they are in stock (4 SETS) and availible. I ordered 1 set and some adhesive (they do not use push pins). I will pass on my opinions after they're installed. The part number is: D2FZ-6220530PR. price= $99.95 + tax

I look forward to hear what you find.  If they work out I will nab one of the sets.

Adhesive???? I'm missing the push pins on my doors... got the car with no weather stripping and no push pins.

I ordered the doorseals but nothing was mentioned about adhesive... was wondering how I was gonna install w/o the push pins.

make sure to post your opinion on the adhesive... if it looks like it will work good I'm gonna have to order me some too.

saw on another post that someone commented on no holes for the push pins and made his own holes...

I bought a windshield weatherstrip from them through ebay. took a little time, but I had it installed with a new (used) windshield today. a little pricey, but it was cheaper than new, and better than a cracked one. I'd like to order more weatherstripping from them when I have more $$$

Doh! Just posted a reply on this subject in Krazi's window/t-shirt thread.

Yes, door seals do not have mounting holes, although they look very good. I haven't installed them yet, since I want to do other work to my doors and probably paint them first. I hadn't heard about the adhesive either, although I noticed that when I took off my original drivers side seal it had some black double-sided tape holding it on in two locations near the base of the window frame. Not sure if this was stock, or the hack who had the car before me did it. I never new it was there, and it was definitely holding the seal on good. This might be another option or in conjunction with adhesive. Probably wiping the seal down with Isopropal right before installing would raise the sticky factor.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Just use the pins on the old seals. After you remove the old ones, set it next to the new ones and mark the locations of the pins. Then cut a small slit or hole and insert the pins.It worked real good on 68cyclones Pony.

Hey Cookieboy:

If you don't have the original nylon push pins you can purchase new ones from
AMK Products.  They have restoration hardware and parts for Fords.  Here is the link:

http://www.amkproducts.com/

If you click on the PDF catalog and then go to the PDF section of 158-169, go to
page 163 and the pins are listed for Ford Weatherstrip, part number B10766.  You
can get 10 of them for three bucks.  I have ordered them and they are just like the
original ones.

Also, they have many bolts, clips, and other hardware that fits Pintos.

Thanks for the info 77pintocw but since I posted that in July of 2006 I found a local paint and body supply store that has the items mentioned...
