Title: 77 Pinto Wins A Battle
Post by: 77pintocw on July 11, 2006, 12:15:06 PM
Hi Folks:

About a year ago my local Ford dealer's service department tore the heck out of
several engine components in my 77 Pinto because of sheer incompetence.  Because
of their continued ineptitude in trying to repair their mistakes I finally had to take them
to small claims court.  Anyway, the judge in the case made a decision today and I and
my Pinto won the case!  The judgment entered for the plaintiff (me) was in the amount
of $1,303.19.  Now the fun part starts in making the Ford dealer actually pay the money.
I will keep you informed...

Best Regards,

I remember you asking for help when all this was going on.  Good for you, Im glad to hear they ruled in your favor.  With as much effort as ford motors is putting into changing their image right now, maybe a few well typed letters to Ford motor headquarters might put a little pressure on the dealership to cough up the funds.  There is a local ford dealership like that around here,  everyone ive talked to that has dealt with them has been extremely disappointed.  One lady took her car in to have warranty work done, they left it sit out back til the warranty expired then fixed her car and charged her for parts and labor. And to top that off, her problem wasnt even fixed, it was something else entirely but they still want paid for the unnecessary work that they did.
I like my Fords but i damn sure wont make payments on one, not after all the horror stories ive been hearing lately.

If they are that stupid, maybe you should get them to fix the brakes, and then drive thru the showroom windows. ;)

Hey Gaslight:

The Ford dealer has 10 days to pay or appeal.  If he doesn't appeal in the 10 days then
the decision by the judge is final.  Then I can go after him and get my money.  Will let
you know what happens.

Hey DTD:

I know you have asked about this case some time ago and I just been waiting for the judge
to rule.  I appreciate your interest in this event.  I know what you mean about some of
these Ford dealers.  Luckly, I have found another dealer up the road and they seem to
be genuinely interested in finding the root cause of a problem and fixing it correctly the first time.
Probably will purchase my next Ford (since I am a Ford kind of guy) from them.

By the way, have you been doing any racing these days and how's the new job going?

I've been down a bad road buying new and used vehicles from Ford dealerships. They always think they're going to get me,but I have caught them. One dealership tried ripping off my wife on the financing,so we went back the same day and paid off the loan.WE had the last laugh. They sure were mad to loose the financing.Three cases where Ford tried a fast one on sales.Always came out okay,though......Good luck on your money.

This year im not doing any racing, i decided to sponsor my friends youngest boy's car and be pit crew for him.  ( he drives a lot better than i do).  As far as the "new job"  it went okay for awhile then it was back to the same shizod different outfit.  So now im enjoying the heck out of the summer while getting a nice fat check from the unemployment office every week.
Glad you found some decent people to work on your car.  I hope the dealership wises up and gives you what you deserve without anymore grief. :peace:
