Not only do they ruthlessly savage the Mustang II, they also throw in some gratuitous swipes at the Pinto:

Actually, I realize they're being intentionally "over the top," and the article's obviously meant to be entertaining, but still!...
"zoops" is not my word by the way--I had written a more colorful word that accurately portrayed my feelings about the publication--it begins with "s" and ends with "ucks"--but apparently there is a filter in place...
Never liked the Times.

Just another yuppie rag.
Yep. The mustang II was a disaster, nevermind it was the 2nd or 3rd best selling mustang of all time.
Yep, it was slow....nevermind that EVERY CAR MADE IN THE 70'S was also slow.
Firestone tires that were defect prone....yeah. Cause we all know that tires are a fixed part of the car that can never be changed, so it should be listed as part of the cars downfall.
I hate people that jump on a stone throwing bandwagon. If it wasn't for the Mustang II (which WAS the right car at the right time), the mustang name would've died.

The New York Times is an anti American rag anyway, consider the source. The Pinto and the MII probably put more kids through college and more beans on the table than the current dwindling circulation of the "Old York Times"

Oh Yeah YUPPIE RAG is Right! Unloved? I wonder what steer-horned cars they are driving have entire websites dedicated to them? And what other car has been most seeked by hot rodders, for its front suspension and rear end? Not a Honda Accord, I will tell you! These people obviously know nothing and I for one am glad I don't subscribe to that toilet paper trash
How can someone say the pinto is unloved.Ill open a shelter for all of the unloved pintos!
Pintos??? Not loved??? Hell, my first whip was a 1975 Pinto that was so rusted...... Well I ain't goin' there again, but I loved that car more than life itself. it is too bad I had to scrap it.
:accident:
*Kicking myself in the butt for that now knowing how beloved that car would be.*
