Title: couple of wagon questions
Post by: dholvrsn on July 09, 2006, 05:27:32 PM
Should be converting my '78 wagony wagon into a Cruising Wagon in the near future. Any tips? Gotchas? How do you remove the side glass first? Any special tool?

Where are the best places to put speakers? Are there factory speaker holes concealed in the doors or cargo compartment? Is the rear hatch thick and resonant enough to put a sub-woofer in there?

In re. rear hatch for mounting sub woofer:

If you build a sturdy enough, acoustically efficient enclosure, and mount it securely enough, you can mount a subwoofer practically anywhere and have decent sound, but personally, if I was you and was starting with a relatively shallow Pinto hatch, I'd try to keep the speaker size down if the intention is to be mounting them in or on the rear hatch, as every time that you slam the hatch shut, you're liable to have a large, heavy, expensive speaker fly off.

Will probably nix the sub in the hatch idea.

BTW, my right rear brake cylinder started seriously leaking, so all the fun stuff is put off until that's fixed.

Kind of funny that you should mention it. The previous owner had at one time screwed this speaker inclosure to the inside hatch. It also came with this Sub which wasn't bolted to anything, AFAIK. I'm guessing that the folks sold junior's Pinto because they were mad at him. I'm toying with stripping the speakers out of the boxes and installing them in the wagon's panels or else leaving them together and selling them on eBay.
