Finally found the Pinto....going to buy it Monday !! YEAH!!
Years of looking and whinning to hubby (literally since 1990 when he GAVE MINE AWAY..just because HE blew it up!)
anyway....
What is the general consenses about painting them....is it better to go original or fancy????
Would it be TOO FAR OFF to paint it with some flames or something....??
Just thinking, it needs some body work, and then a new paint job, I was thinking metallic and shiney....
didn't I red somwhere shiney=good???? LOL
anyway.....just thought I could use some feedback there.
Anyone know what a new paint job will cost me?????
Love the site..... and the stories, can't wait to drive my baby home!

Hi Crafty, just my opinion. First I would have your husband call Overhaulin'. You would have to fake the surprise though. If they ever did a Pinto on their show we would know it was BACK!
Now to be serious. A Pinto will never be a museum type of car so do what you want with it. Paint it the color you want and as shiney as you like. Personally I hate all the flames people put on cars. Frankly I don't understand it, but that is just my opinion.
Today in 2006 we have alot more options of colors and paint types so you can make your Pinto better looking than even Sabrinas car on Charlies Angels.
Have fun with it.
By the way what year and model is it?
1974
That's all i know so far...havent even seen it, but I am going to buy it !
Just like the first one I had in 1990...just diff color!
I can't wait to be driving it!
BTW...no flames for me either...but I do want shiney mettaliccy paint!

just my 2 cents if it is your car do as you will if you are not happy with it it will not be as much fun.
when we first got your i struggled alot with what modifications to do (tires rims paint intreior, ect.) after all winter picking up parts and peices from ebay the only big change was replacing the crome gas cap with a wood grain. and now i have finaly found rims that i like and working on getting them.and i a few years i am going to have to get the original paint redone a lot of chips. all that just to say keep it fun ;D :fastcar:
Thanks guys !
I really just want a shiney paint job and a car that is noticed....
I keep picking on my son...told him I want a big flag painted on the hood....
boy he didn't think I was funny!
Today I told him I wanted spinners on the car...
I thought he was going to fall on the floor...
says "You don't put Spinners on a PINTO!" :what:
I just love to pick on him and his dad about all the things about the car...... neither of them think it's a cool car...but they just laugh and give me ahard time. ;D
But...my Son DRIVES A FESTIVA !!!!
So...what does he know????
HA :D  ;D
They pick back and tease me about wanting a pinto and ask what I am driving in the winter.... but hubby IS paying for it! And I can cook...but I AM NOT CHANGING THE OIL! He knows he is doing that one! ;)
I will be back I am sure for lots more help...... as I am NOT ONE BIT mechanically inclided, but I really like my PINTO.... :fastcar:
OH yeah.....I get to DRIVE it tommorrow for the first time! :hypno: :hypno: :hypno:
