Has anyone noticed the increase in Pinto merchandise and fame for the cute little Pinto? Because amazingly I have! Recently there have been die cast productions of pinto hatchbacks for sale, and get this...a 1/16 scale Remote controlled Pinto! We have purchased as many as we can find. Thats not the only thing: Ford has allowed the production of and sale of Pinto hats and T-shirts. I bought an orange girls shirt with the Pinto emblem on it at Nordstrom at the beginning of the year. What? Has Ford seen its mistake? And NOW, if you walk into any American Eagle Outfitters clothing store, all over the walls are giant posters of teenagers driving in/standing by/sitting on an orange Pinto Wagon! Look at this for proof:http://www.ae.com/web/corp/default.htm (http://www.ae.com/web/corp/default.htm)
Freaking amazing! I don't know what is going on, but I don't want it to stop! The thing that I believe will tip the scale is when Hallmark comes out with a Pinto ornament in their American car series. That will mean the Pinto is back in action and is kicking everyone in the head for making fun of it. OH Yeah! I cant wait for what shows up next.
i also have seen alot of public exposure.. its awesome.. people are starting to look at the pintos and the vegas, and the gremlins and pacers in a different light.. its wierd and awesome.. :) i love it
I've noticed it too. just happened in the past year or so.
I'm a young'un compared to most of the people on the board (i'm 24) and I still get a lot of ribbing from the folks my age because I even have a pinto. However, the folks that were old enough to have bought a pinto brand new usualy always give me a thumbs up, want to share a pinto story, or pull out a wad of $$$ and try to buy my baby from me.....unless they're the hummer h2 driving yuppie who's nose is so high in the air that pigeons build nests in their sinuses.

I have the only Pinto that attends pretty much all of the car shows and cruise nights in the Milwaukee area and everywhere i go, someone has a story. I love the exposer that the little cars are getting. I have bought everything I could find that has come out latley and keep hitting the swap meets for more stuff. By the way, the remote control cars area a blast to play with. I chase my dod all over the house with mine
Thanks

Heh, at first glance it looks like mine when it was stock. Yup, love how the Pinto's are coming back into popularity. Or is that becoming popular? I don't know, I've always liked them. ::)

What about 2 years ago when you hit "show unread post since last visit" and all you got was 4 post after 2 days...
I live in snob central,Seattle area. But the reaction to my pinto is tremendous, people love seeing the car still on the road. It's funny,I can drive over to car toys, they are next to park place motors.Park place sells only very hi end cars,$80.000 and up.If I park my cruser next to there lot the customers spend more time looking at my pinto than their cars.Last year one of the sales men offered to buy it.My wife said she really wondered if he really liked the car,or if they were tired of me parking it there.
Hey there people, Another amazing discovery! At Target stores, we found red girls' shirts that said something to the effect of "I like my Ponies to go really FAST!" around a picture of oh you guessed it, a Pinto!! :o So of course we bought 5. And another tidbit, I know a lot CA Pintos still exist b/c we don't salt the earth, but the more my brother and I drive around, the more Pintos are appearing. There are streets we drive down almost every day, and the next day, a little pinto pops up. I know millions were sold, but where are they all still coming from? It has been getting difficult to find poor little pintos in the junkyards, so i just figured they were dwindling. Seems I am wrong, they are appearing in the streets instead. Wooo! Go Little Pintos Go! ;D
You know most of the 24 years I been doing Business as Pintoworks people have asked about the name and where it came from. I often point to the grabber blue car in the parking lot. I've been ribbed pretty hard about my choice in cars for a long time now people stop by just to look at the car. My Company shirts are starting to sale as well.
Go figure.
Frank
Unfortunately here in the Seattle area most people have the nests in their sinuses.Sometimes I think I own the only one around.I get tired of people saying,a Pinto I didn't think there were any left.I hear that allot.
When you drive a Pinto to a car show you need to have thick skin, but you also need to like to talk because you will get questions and comments from a lot of people. Most of the comments are favorable, you still get a few that have "Pinto Bigotry" those are the people that just don't get it. The description for them is the Harley T shirt saying that says "If I have to explain then you wouldn't understand."

Pinto....The Working Man's Car. Your Darn Tootin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to consider my Pinto as a workhorse and a steady means of transportation. Now it is my enjoyment and heirloom to my son.
