Will the 74 and up spindles fit he A arms from a 72?
I plan on some pretty decent speed from the 2.3T and would feel a LOT better of I had as much whoa power as GO power.

Jim, I believe the a arms on 71-73s are different than on 74 and up. Im trying to rember just what it is thats different but cant right now ( only one cup of coffie this am). I'll be back with more info on this later.
I'm sure they will not go on, i think the a arms are narrower or something like that......ah hell....i don't know, i'll just be quiet now. I do know you can buy an aftermarket kit for the big brakes for the '71-'73 style but i can't remember where i seen it.
What if the arms are swapped out? The mounting points for the arms the same?
Jim
no i think the geometry is different, but like i said i'd have to do some checking to be sure. I read somewhere out there on the web nothing is interchangable between the two. I'll see if i can dig something up....stay tuned.
Any more info ?
Jim
Jim, I have been looking into this for years. I decided that if I go big with brakes on my 71-73 cars I would go with the willwood deal and get it over with ,HOWEVER that said, Im SURE you could mod a 4 puck willwood Dinalite caliper on to a 71-73 pinto 9" front disc with a little research and some tools. WANT TO TRY.......... I'll do it with you and we can both have better brakes. Let me know..........
Hey guys...if your on a budget like me just get a 74 up spindle assembly (spindle, rotor, caliper) and bolt it on your early style a-arms.
Ball joints are the same.
The later spindles are 1" taller.
Won't effect ride height but will give you more camber in bump wich is good because the more body roll your car has in a corner the more the tire will contact the pavement.
There is a lot more pad surface area on the later ponies.
Hope this helps.

8)one other thing you can do is contact engineered components and get their big brake kit for the pinto spindles. it uses larger ford(or gm if you are so inclined) rotors and gm full size "B" body calipers. it is an all bolt on kit and not too expensive. you would have to change to 5 bolt wheels though.
