Hey gang,
I just got an am/fm/8 track for my wagon and was wondering how to hook it up. If anyone has a wiring diagram that would mind sharing, I would really appreciate it. I know that the 78 Pintos did not come with a am/fm/8 track but i like the look it gives the car. There is currently a CD player there not but i am going to put that in the glove box and try and use both.
Thanks
Mark
If you're doing this for looks only, that's one thing, but unless you were either born under a very lucky star, or really do like to unsnarl and then reattach the ends of old 8 track tapes that come apart from the original piece of tape that holds the ends of the tape strip together losing it's adhesion, I wouldn't advise actually using the 8 track unit. How about using a cassette tape unit instead? You could also carry many more of the smaller sized tapes in the same space.
Hey Mark,
Did you get an after market or a Philco by Ford?The after market`s like Kraco...Spark o matic...etc were an easy wire up...they have 4 wire`s...red= hot...blk= grnd...grn=spkr...gray=spkr...Hope this help`s...

Hey gang,
I was able to figure the wiring out. Pretty simple now that I played with it a little. There are two wires that come out of the units together. one has a filter one it, the other plane. The are both "Hot". One controls the lights, the other controls the radio/tape deck. The ground is a black wire bundled together with the speakers.
I was able to bench test these at home using a simple 12V DC adaptor. The good news it I was able to find a working Ford unit. The bad news is the 8 track part is stuck on track two LOL!!!
Thanks for all of your help
That's funny. The one in my car is stuck on track 3. If we put ours together do you think they would work right? lol ;D
If not, maybe that way the car could do warp 5.....
