What do you have to do to swap a 2.3 engine for a 2.0?
Can you use the stock frame mounts?
I just bougth a 72 with a 2.0 and It came with an extra 2.3 engine(and a trailer of stuff ):hypno: and an cast iron head ported and large valves ect from Esslinger.
Is it a pain to fit the 2.3?
Thanks for your answers
I think you have to cut the motor mounts off the frame and use the ones from a 2.3 pinto. Thats what ive heard on here. So far Ive only worked on 2.3 pintos.
I'm looking for all the same info.
I just stumbled across a 2.3 automatic 79 Mustang with 21,000 original km. Aside from what the garage will want for the rotted old Mustang, I'll need to calculate the costs for all the conversion parts like mounts, exhaust, rad?, and some fuss here and there. Not to mention a Ranger factory header as well.
The 2.0 that's in the 73 Wagon I have still smokes, so it's rebuild or swap in another engine.

Well, the short version is that you need to cut the 2.0 mounts off and weld in 2.3 mounts. you can drop the engine down a bit also so that you can fit all the turbo stuff under the hood. You can see an example of the motor mounts on a 72 at the topic, your racers and 72 2.5 turbo pinto.
Thanks for the reply Turbopinto 72.
Of course most of the info in that topic is way over the top for what I would like to do but the pics of the mounts are clear & will help when the time comes.
Thanks.
