My friends who are doing the body work on my 72 Runabout have just acquired a 1600cc engine and manual transmission from what appears to be a 72 Pinto, or so it says 72 on the valve cover sticker. The units were offered as all that was left of the original vehicle.
Don't know if these engines came out in any other production year model in the U.S.A. I had one some time ago and gave it to a friend who was into racing them. I don't know what class. He has since moved to Virginia.
My question is what would the units be worth now. I'm almost certain that they are still used as there are places in Florida that still sell racing parts for them.
Any ideas? Would appreciate any thoughts.

I just sold one for $450. The guy that bought it, said that he did some checking around, and that is usually a good price for a BLOCK!!! Don't know, but that is what he said.
I saw one on E-Bay that supposedly came out of a Bobcat ? ? of all things. The person wanted six and change for it.
Will probably place it for auction but since it is a whole engine I'll see if I can't get about the same price range.
We have a track in the Northwest hills of CT. by the name of Lime Rock. I've never been to it but thats where these engines are run at.
A late model racer at my local track knows folks up there and will get a better feel.
Thanx for your input.
