Hey,
Anyone know how many gallons the stock 79' sedan gas tank holds? - Amin
it should be 10.8 gallons for sedan/hatchback gas tank. 13 gallons for stationwagon
Right on at 11 gallons
Thank you
Sedan has 13 gallon gas tank.
Wagon has 14 gallon gas tank.
Per Ford parts catalog.
hmmm....Is it 11 or 13? ???
i have heard of the auxilary gas tank on mustangII but never saw one.just adds an extra 2 gallon is all. but never saw one on the pinot/bobcat. but he is correct10.8/ 11 gallons sedan/hatchback and 13 gallons for the stationwagon.i have never tried putting the stw gas tank into the sedan or hatch. i believe it would interfere with the muffler.but hey any thing can be modified if you have the time and money. just my 2 cents

Hello uncleamin,
Well the answer is Both!!!
The early Pinto sedan 71-73 Have the 11 galon tank.
1974 & Up Pinto have the bigger tank.
So your 79 would be the BIGGER 13 Gallon liquid gold holder. ;D

Hello cromcru,
Yes you are right. The wagon tank is different.
The spare tire well is deeper so the rear carpet is flat in the cargo area.
The sedan spare tire is above the level of the rtunk so it makes a round bump when the cargo mat is installed.
