Title: Cruising wagon in Colorado junkyard
Post by: svoman2300 on April 29, 2006, 09:37:06 PM
Hey guys I haven't posted here in a while. Unforunately I got rid of my Pinto and moved from Florida to Colorado. Anyways I was at a junkyard today and there was a 78 cruising wagon there. The porthole windows were missing but the panels were there with minimal surface rust and  bad paint. Are these easy to remove and does anybody need these? I don't know when I can get back there but if there are any Colorado guys/gals here it's at the Pull n Save in Aurora. By the way I replaced my Pinto with an AMC Eagle. I needed something for the snow.

The cruising wagon panels with the windows are going around $100+shipping on ebay - probably still worth getting.  Fairly easy to remove - remove the screws and then work the panels loose from the thick gummy black stuff on the back.  Not too much work, probably worth it.

While you're at it, you might want to look at getting the drip rail extensions, the dash gauges, the remote sport mirrors (these go around $75 a pair on ebay), and the front spoiler.  Other people here can probably give you some other things to look for.

What are drip rail extenders?

Also, I would be interested in the rally steering wheel or the chin spoiler in one of these JYs.

BTW, I'm just a little frustrated in trying to get Cruising Wagon parts myself. Even when I buy them, I don't seem to get them (so far). Bought a complete set of hardware about three weeks ago from somebody who has a sterling reputation on this board and he's been a bit out of character, never giving me the shipping number, I haven't gotten the panels and he hasn't been answering my emails. Maybe at least one of us might be a victim of an ISP's spam filter, I really don't know. Anyway, I gave up and won another set on eBay from somebody who expects payment in seven days, but still hasn't sent me the S&H figure so that I can pay and this is running on two days after closing.

Anywho, on the bright side, I love the Cookie Monster with turbo avatar. Someday, I got to find a turbo 2.3 for "Wee Beastie" my Pinto.
