anyone put a 2.9 in a pinto, or some other v6, how about a 4.0 (that would be interesting)?.......................just curious

Unless you used the upper intake from a merkur (sp) 2.9, theres no way the hood would clear.  Plus if the 2.9's have stock heads, they're junk.  Let it get a little warmer than normal and they crack and piss coolant in the cylinders, usualy on cylinders 1 and 6 right between the valves.    If you put the world heads on one, you've got a decent engine if you can tollerate the lifter ticking from the crappy job ford did converting from the 2.8's solid lifters to the 2.9's hydraulic lifters.

The 4.0 ohv may clear the hood, but i've never looked at the intake on one.  Even then, its a whole lot of work for 160 hp, but she'll have a good ammount of torque.

The 4.0 ohc is good for 220 hp and if you want to pay for it, you can get a manifold to clear the hood, but it'll have to be from the ford stealership and you'll have to run the OBD 2 (1996 and up) system which will be a major PITA.
