am thinking of putting a white stripe on my 76 red pinto, to look like the starsky & hutch torino, the show was just so,so but the car was awesome, the last pinto i saw on line like that was sitting an rusting in afield down south somewhere, am opening door to any & all opinions, what do ya ll think ? i dont think there are too many starsky & hutch pintos out there?dont want to over do what s already been done. so, fire away, folks pintok.
Pintok,
I can easily respond to this because I too,am a creative visionary. I say have fun with your Pinto. If it is not a stocker of an original quality then it is your artistic canvas of interpetation of how you feel when you get in and turn that key. I saw one of the cars in the knotts berry farm group that had a stripe that I associated with Starsky and Hutch. Did you check that out? Research pictures of the S&H car so it looks proper in a propotionate way but I say.......Yes.

Hey Pintok.
I say go fer it! It`s neat scheme...
The striped tomato ride`s again! ;D
Go for it.
After you get it done, just tell people that the pilot for Starsky and Hutch had them in a pinto painted like that, but it was changed to the Torino. Oh heck, just tell people it was a pinto in the show.

Hey there that Pinto at the Knotts show the stripe would be mine! It actually came as an option back in the day. Here's some pictures of my Hughie! If you check out the Knott's berry farm post on the car shows forum you can see more. He's plum with a palomino stripe. Palomino and carmel interior...

AW I feel so proud, there's a huge smile on my face. Thank you all so much!
As for pintok, your car looks amazing! Aren't the stares you get great?! And to answer your questions: Hughie is a '78 hatchback with a tiny 4 cylinder. I got him at the end of my junior year in high school, so that would mean I have had him for about four years now. I got him with only 35000mi from a girl whose grandmother was the original owner. I reupholstered his seats with carmel and palomino vinyl and put in a new carmel-like carpet. We installed this dealer air conditioning system we found in a sad sedan at the junk yard. He is pretty basic, but pretty none-the-less. You can find us in West Covina, SoCA. Where the sun is always shining and there aren't 1 year old cars covered in rust!
