Title: What can I use to protect my dash pad?
Post by: gentlegiant on April 04, 2006, 06:19:47 AM
Hey guys.  I finally managed to pick up a cruising wagon (pictures later) - and according to the seller, the original dashpad is not cracked.   What product would ya'll recommend to treat the dashpad to keep it from cracking?

Cardboard.

Keeping direct sunlight off of it is the best thing you can do.

Also, keeping it from extreme temperatures will help.

There are products on the market that are "protectants", but use the ones that protect against UV rays.

Ever heard of Adam's Polish?  All the products are amazing.  One product in particular will help with the dash pad. It's called VRT ~ Vinyl, Rubber, Tire.  You just spread it on with an application pad and the material will absorb it making it more flexible and crack resistant. NO matter what you do, DO NOT use Black Magic!  My brother used it on his flawless dash and practically the next day, a huge crack appeared going down the center of the dash.  It broke his heart.  I swear by Adam's polishes, it works wonders. I believe you can order it online.  Just google it.  Then once you've done that, a dash cover will protect it further. good luck ~Sir Hugh
