Title: no spark beeen sitting for a while 79

oaky today i picked up a free 1979 ford pinto it's in okay shape for it's age but the floor is rust threw everywhere anyways it turns over but there is no spark do you think it's the points? it's probbaly been sitting for at least ten years. also does anyone have a wiring or online service manual? any help would be appreciated.

if it is a 79 it won't have points. it is probably electronic ignition with a bad module. the module tends to go bad if it sits for a long period of time.

Maybe the end of the rotor button and the electrodes in the cap are all corroded over.

here's a few more things to look at. carbon deposits in the top of the cap, rotor not rotating, dead coil, spark module not sparking. are all the plugs plugged in? I forgot the one going to the distributor once. that'll make the cussword fly. if you're close to hastings nebraska, I have a '79 sedan I'm parting out.

If the ignition module checks out as ok, check for bad ground wires, and clean up any that the ignition depends on.

With a severely rusted chassis there is a good chance that you may only have a few remaining decent grounds.
