Title: Unknown part on engine
Post by: hoots on March 24, 2006, 07:21:34 PM
Under the intake on the 2.3 there is a 'box' bolted to the block, it looks like some type of vacuum control device...what the heck is it? Can it be removed or will that create problems?

Hello HOOTs,
The box you speek of is the oil seperator for your PCV. There should be a hose comming off going into your intake manifold.

If you "can" leave it there then I would leave it alone. If you need to remove it then you will need to add an oil breather of some sort.

Where can I find an exploded view of how this thing should be hooked up. Keep in mind my son took it upon himself to remove the CA emissions, let's just say he went to extemes on removing hoses. So I'm in the dark here on what hoses go where.

If a breather cap on the valve cover will take the place of this box, that sounds good.
