Title: 2.3l intake manifold ?
Post by: hoots on March 23, 2006, 09:21:55 AM
Need some assistance on replacing the OEM intake on a 2.3l. Haven't been able to find an aftermarket intake. The original had the CA smog relalted ports, just trying to clean up the looks and simplify the project. The carb is going to be a Holley 350CFM EC.

The ports are the Oval type.

Called both of those places, neither have anything designed for street. We'll make due with the OEM parts for now.

Install the late model d-port efi intake with a carb adapter, available from Race Engineering or essl. This combo  flows better than the oval port intake to oval port head anyway and works very well on the street and looks better to boot.,J.D.

You might have a few hood clearance issues with the later type lower efi manifold and an adapter on a pinto. I know our race car cant have one with out a hole in the hood or a hood scoop and that is not allowed at Vernon.

The offy intake sounds like a better deal to me.  I have a buddy with one and he likes it pretty well.

If any of you want the Offy, give me a PM.  I'll take $75 plus shipping.  I have ground off all I.D. markings seeing as I was "supposed" to be using a stock OEM, so it is pretty much just a smooth surface.  I also know a friend that has a Offy 4 barrel for a 2.0 if anyone is interestred, $100 plus for that one.

I'll take it. Can you send me your contact info.

What carb did you use? I've been looking at 350 Holleys. Or is there a more efficient one you would recommend?

Just sent you a PM.  I would use the 350 or the Motorcraft 2100 2 barrel.

Are you still interested 77turbo???  Jeff (hoots) said they decided they did not need so it's still available if you want.

it has been awhile since i have seen it, but there used to be someone that made an adaptor that bolts to the 2.3 head, and allows the use of early 2.0 intakes.
