Any of you that have had to change the heater fan motor know what I'm talkin about. What a job, I should have taken the passanger seat out the first thing I did but waited till I was almost done. Talk about a cramped place to word, my back still hurts this morning, but it sure is nice to turn on the heater to high and not hear the fuse blow or the sound like someone is grinding wallnuts. But the unit works great and best of all, HEAT IS GOOD
Hello Farm boy.
I have done the heater core-blower many times.
I feel your PAIN man!!!!
Just saturday night.

Pintony, your a better man than me, I don't think I could have done it in one evening, a few hours on thurs, 3+ hours on sat. nite and a few more hours on sunday morn. I'm glad my motor out of the parts car worked. All I have left to do is the engine swap and it will be time to paint :amazed:
The fan motor on an a/c car is easy, but if you think pulling that box from the non a/c car was bad, try the a/c box. :lost:

Hello Farm boy.
In one evening I stripped the complete interior. Seats side pannels carpet and shifter along with most of the dash + sound system 6Disk changer & console.
I installed NEW carpet seats"FRONT" and the weater core all at the same time.
I started saturday night at 7:00 and finished at 4:00AM on sunday.
seemy posts in "your projects."
Under Purple Pinto goes to Knotts.
Glad you got your Pinto fixed up.

Pintony, long way to go for me from Wa. st.. I would love to see a pinto getogether somewhere on the west coast. maybe Oregon?? I have a hard time gettin away being I'm the owner/operator and the only employee in my company.
Farmoy, there are several of us here in Oregon and some of you guys in Wa., so maybe we should try and get one planned somwhere around this area...??? I would be willing to do my part to get something going. Let me know if you know any others that would like to do something if you know of any.
Fast34, sounds like a great idea, I'm sure we could get some intrest in the west coast comunity. I would have a hard time gettin back to the east coast and I've driven to So. Cal. 1 time. We got to the oregon-calif. border and we're all excited only 1 more state to get to Disneyland. All I can say is California is one looooooooooooong state to drive thru :hypno:
Yeah, but where would be a good location to have this?? I would not mind traveling some distance to do this. I'm in Southern OR. per say, along the I-5 corridor. If we can get a hold of any and all members that would like to participate in this, then I will do all I can to help make it happen. Can someone here give me a way to look that information up, maybe by doing a member search or something?? Any ideas will be appriciated.
Haven't had to do a heater core/fan yet.. but probably just jinxed myself. I've been thinking about adding A/C to my car, but not sure if I want to go through all that pain.
A get together in the Washington/Oregon area sounds good, although my rebuild project is probably out a couple years to completion. Check the Member Map to get a better idea of who is in the area. Those of you who aren't on there yet, get on it!
Oh yeah, I did the heater core replacement in my 73 wagon twice. I replaced it the first time with one I pulled out of a parts car. That one lasted almost two weeks. I was on my way home from town one foggy night, someone's hog was out in the road and I had to brake real hard to miss it. I don't know what that did to the heater core but it sprang a leak. So there I was replacing it once again, I used a new one that time. To make matters worse I had hang in (underdash) air conditioning in the Pinto and that had to come out twice also.
Hello crashfarmer,
:welcome:
Great story!
Not one I think I would enjoy. BUT sounds like my luck. ;D

ThunderPinto came with a/c stock. I began to repair the leaking core and thought I was delivering a child. I threw all that stuff away and went to the bone yard and got all the no-a/c stuff right down to the smallest grommet. Now when I want to cool off in my Pinto I reach over to the glove box and retreive a damp premoistened towlette. Ha!!!!!

You junked all those parts??
Man, I went nuts trying to find them when I installed mine. The turbo people use them to re-locate the blower motor out of the way of the turbo, and still keep heat and de-fog.

After doing over 15 pinto heater cores I've got it down to a 2 hr job and you don't take the seat out. A Few tricks and it's not that bad. It's the gettin under the dash thats the hard part.especially when your 6 5 220. Never done one with ac.
