Title: Pinto Insurance
Post by: zo1boy on March 07, 2006, 04:15:53 PM
Ive been looking for good, affordable insurance for my 77 Hatchback. Everytime i call for a quote, the rep chuckles and cracks some type of rearending, exploding, catching fire, blowing up joke that I've come to anticipate and despise.  Unfortunately I'm also only going to be 21 next month, so I'll get charged up the yin yang no matter what.  So what I'm looking for is a company that is affordable, but won't total my car if a fly hits the windshield.  The best one I've gotten so far is $389. per 6 Months from esurance. the problem is they had to quote it as a 1981 ford escort being that their database did not have pintos :wow: So if you guys have any pointers, I'd really appreciate it. thanks!

I just got my new bill for my Lime Green 1972 Pinto 38.00 for 6 months
My Purple Pinto is much higher. 48.00 for 6 months.
That is through State Farm.
Go through a agent near you. Not one over the phone.

I use USAA for my daily drivers but American Classic Car Insurance on my 3 Pintos.

Agreed value insurance of 4k each but I can only drive the cars 3k miles per year & they must be kept in a garage, can't leave them in a mall parking lot (unattended)...

Pay about $190/6 Months...

Lots of restrictions but they fixed my Green Runabout when the time came..

FYI

my bobcat is insured through allied insurance. I told them it's a project car, and I'm paying $12 a month.

Wow! I would kill to have any one of these quotes.  I will try to go in to see an agent, i wonder if would even make a difference if they knew that i don't drive the pinto all that often, i have had extensive defensive drivers training, aced my drivers test, and have a perfect record.

Hoots, is your son the primary driver on the insurance? Is it basic coverage, or more? Sounds like a good deal for me.

You didn't mention it, but if you have ANYTHING questionable on your record already, with your age as another factor, no one will be going out of their way to help lower your premium price...

Sorry, I left out a word. What I meant was that if you  have anything questionable on your CREDIT record, not your driving record, (which you said was perfect).
Yeah, I know that it's unfair, but a lot of companies check your credit record before doing any hard quotes these days

mine is through Custom Wheels, covered for 18K and it costs $386 a year. It has restrictions on it as well. Not a daily driver, no malls, can't drive it to work ect.

zo1boy, sorry for the late response. My 20yr old son uses the car as his daily driver, with liability ins.
