Great Post below about timing. I was wondering alot of those questions. But anyway... Where is a good place to by jets for the motorcraft two barrel carb? Also, for those who are racing, what jets are you running? I run on a 1/2 mile track, so I am looking for a good size jet for that size track....
i think summit or jegs has a box that you can buy full of diffrent sized jets but i havent got a box yet and cant rember the sizes they have or the price. and i think you should be able to go to most parts stores to pick them up.
We just use a bottoming tap, and tap all of the carbs we use for holley jets. I dont remember offhand what the tap size is.
DTD, what size jet do you use for a 1/2 mile track...
PPR, If you are using a 5200 carb, then they use the same jets as a Webber. The numbers are different, but they will screw right in.

58's, but i run a stock motor(v-6), and the track isn't quite a 1/4 mile. the 58's run a just a little rich. by the way I use a 2150 not a 5200.
I will add that to things to check tonite after work and see what jets are in there.. I want to check them for clogging anyway

there is no set recommended jet size for a 1/2 mile track or any size track for that matter. You need to figure your jets by the test and tune method. someone might tell you to run 82's someone else might run 78's. They may have a different cam or different cc heads. its something you are going to have to figure out once you get it running.
Ok, got it set for 30 deg advanced at 200-2500 rpm and boy it does sound nice. I ran a wire from the dizzy to a screw on the body too, so that might have helped with the better ground.
I guess next is to get it on the track and play with the jets.... Thanks y'all
If anyone is interested the tap needed to make holleys jets fit in other carbs is: 1/4"-32tpi bottoming tap I recommend the one from J&L industrial supply company, the one they have for $11 and some change. The threads on this one go closer to the end than any of the other ones I have looked at.
