Title: engine swap
Post by: haj81 on February 22, 2006, 07:10:33 AM
tough time finding 3 tower head, so i'm considering replacing 2.0 with a 2.3. Will the 2.3 bolt up to a 2.0 bell, and are the front mounts the same?  What other problems can I expect?

Yes, with adapting the dowel pins it will bolt up to your tranny. No, you will need to cut off the welded on frame side engine mount brakets and install ones from a 2.3 along with the mounts themselves. The only "problem" will be locating the frame brakets correctly to keep the correct pinion angle, as the tranny will help locate the engine fron to back. Take good and detailed measurments.

Jay,

Where you located.  I am getting ready to pull out a perfectly good running 2.3 and auto trans from my 74.

YUMA!  Bummer I was just at PIR for a race.  I am only in Ventura County California.  Its only about a 6 hour drive from Yuma.

250.00 with all the accesories.  Shipping or pickup would be up to you.  I have no way to crate it.

Hello Haj81,
The 2.3 is longer 3-4" so you may want to re-consider????
I have many 2.0 cylinder heads.
What is wrong with the one you have?
Are you looking for a re-built head or just a core for rebuild?

the reason i'm looking for a head is because i fried the cam, and took out the followers with it.  a new cam and followers cost more than a used motor cost.  the reason i'm looking for the head is so i can get the followers together with their matching cam lobe respectively.
