Title: 302 for FREE?!?!
Post by: LincoPinto on February 18, 2006, 08:02:30 PM
For the past few weeks, I've been looking for a 302 5.0L Fuel Injected, with Electric Ignition.  Well No Luck... I was kinda bummed because the only one that was available was owned by a few pricks, (Pinto? why the @#$& would you do that) and wanted 700 for the engine and 450 for the Trans.  Well after dealing with them, I was kinda getting bummed... then my father remembered that his brother had an '84-'87 Mercury Cougar out in the country just sitting... I about died.  We made some phone calls, found that it was still there... my uncle owes my dad so the car is ours!

We are going next weekend weather pending to pick up the car and bring it back to extract the goods.

So... My pinto will soon have more bang for it's buck (no pun intended)

Thanks for reading
Any and All Advice is welcome,

Thanks,
Travis

all the 302s are the same the oly diffrence between them is 86 and newer is a roller cam motor

things to go from carb- efi
- timing chain cover carb has a fuel pump hole efi and trottle body also on those the little round thing that goes on the end of the cam isnt there on efi
- the intake
- manifolds may be diffrent
- motor mounts but they can be inter changed from block to block the mounts from a car to a truck are diffrent and in full size cars 79 and up the mounts are all the same but diffrent than trucks
- pulleys some are v belt some are surpentine
- dist. some have the module on the fender , some on the dist., some are points.

but you can make a 302 out of a 75 fit in a 89 or however ive done it all the holes in the block are the same.
