was the 2.3 with c4 put in any other car besides the pinto?like the bobcat,capri or fairmont,and is the doorcode W for all cars?

Yes all Ford and Mercury cars with W door code have C4.
Bobcat, Mustang II, Fairmont, Zephyr and you might even find the 2.3-C4 combo in 79-80 Mustang and Capri.

In my search today a local yard guy gave me a list of all 2.3 c4 combo cars.These could be standard or options,this was done with a parts locate and crossover program.
75-80 bobcat
75-80 pinto
80-81 capri
80-81 mustang
80-81 zephyr
80-81 fairmont
74-78 mustang
81 cougar
81 granada
