Is there a part number or casting number on the bellhousing for a 2.3 c4?Does anybody know what it is?
Don't have a clue... Anyone?
:sorry: There could be a different number for each year.
From what I understand about Fords part # thing, the 4 digit # (AFTER the 4 digit letter/number code), will stay the same on the part (bell, block, head...), but the year made/change will effect the first two digits in the entire # (Example: E3..). If found this out looking at the different bells, the d1 bell and the d9 bell have the same 4 "#'s". I have a 2.0-c4 bell, but it has a different # as an auto tranny bell, D1MP-7976-AA-2.
Well, to answer your questions: yes, there is a # on it, and no, I don't know what it is.
My guess it would be D4 something, maybe "D4MP-7976-??-?".

If it will help I have one and can take lots of detail photos for you. Dave
