Title: Ignition Problems
Post by: PinkPintoRacer on February 17, 2006, 06:34:56 PM
Ok, I have changed coil, spark plug wires, rotor, points and condenser on my Pinto, and still no spark.  I get sparks when I short out the points though... Any ideas.........  It is a 74 2300 with single points........

well if the points arent gaped right then you wont have spark

since it worked fine befor you messed with it i would say that is the problem. did the coil wires (the +/- sides) come undone or swaped around some how the + side should get it from the switch and the - should go to the distributor.

Thanks, I know that part, to fill you in, I blew a coil, I think, on the race track.  I have replaced all that I can replace, exept the dizzy itself.  Tomorrow I am going to pull the timing belt cover and peek under there,
