Title: Brake Light Switch
Post by: PinkPintoRacer on February 03, 2006, 11:09:53 PM
Ok, another question.  I have to put a brake light into the race car.  I have a switch to  put in, but I need to know what wire is what.

One wire is green

One wire is green with red hash marks.

Which one is power and which one is ground..

I have been waiting for my Chiltons Guide, but since it is not here, can someone help me out please

Hello pinkpintoracer,
The wire does not know what color it is.
If the two wires are connected and the brake lights come on?
Then it matters NONE to which side of the switch you put them.
The switch simply makes or breaks the connection to activate the load.
From Pintony
P.S. On a STOCK pinto neither wire is ground.
The brake lights are grounded by the metal bulb housing.
SO... IF.. the bulb is not in the housing making circuit ground it will do nothing.

Ok, thanks Pintony.  So what I get is run one side to power, one side to light, ensure ground is good, and it should work..    Thanks
