Post by: pop67w on November 17, 2003, 06:52:30 PM
HI everybody!!!!
I am new to this board.I am just wanting to know a few things about what to do to my stock car this coming year.I have a friend that races drag strip he runs a 2.3 turbo with nitro.I do have a turbo block to run in my car this year. What i need to know is what pistons should i run.The rules for the track says flat tops only. What would be a good name brand. It will not have turbo on it.And what would be a good cam to go with it.The motor i ran this past year was a stock engine. It had the head shaved 60,block decked.Keith black pistons. And a rollor cam.(stock cam)What would you guys think???  Thanks talk to ya later.                 67w

OK, if you are trying to run NHRA Stock Eliminator, the Turbo block is a BIG no no! NHRA won't let ya run that block, it's not homoginized, or however you spell it. If ya have to run flat top pistons, I would recommend running the Wiseco pistons with the Chevy 250 straight 6 connecting rods. Cam choice depends on what yer actually after as far as performance, what transmission yer running, the gear ratio, the compression ratio, etc... Best bet would be to call a cam manufactor (I recommend Ultradyne cams, talk to Harold) and ask for their recommendations, and check several of them. Each will probally have a different choice of cams depending on your application. Hope this helps.

Uh, actually stock eliminator is a class you could not run unless the car has the same YEAR AND MAKE as the car used. As Pintos did not come factory with Turbo blocks you could not use that. Now, to run a NHRA event WITH a turbo block you would need to run in either the street legal class, the e.t. handicap class or a Comp Class ( which would be a long shot). I would stick with the street legal class and have fun.
