I've been searching for the correct spring for a 302 swap. Fat Rodder on Ebay sells 350lb and 425lb. Racer Walsh also sells a variety of spring rates. See below information for part numbers for sedans, station wagons, 4 cylinders, V6 and V8 applications.

I've been searching for the correct spring for a 302 swap. Fat Rodder on Ebay sells 350lb and 425lb. Racer Walsh also sells a variety of spring rates. Advance Auto parts might be able to get MII springs but they said it could take a few weeks even if they are able to locate them. Hoots has used 450lb springs for his wagon swap. Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Hello gearhead440,
Springs from a Pinto W/2.3 & A/C should be just about right for a V8 swap.

I did some cross referencing between Napa and Advance Auto Parts websites and part numbers and came up the with following table that may be useful. I wiil be using Advance Part Number 8542 for my V8 swap :). There might be typos...

(80) Pinto 4cyl w/o A/C 2773041 8578
(80) Pinto 4cyl w/ A/C 2773042 8576
(77) Pinto 6cyl SW w/o A/C 2773042 8576

Hey,Pintony.I have an 80 pinto wagon with a 2.3 ,4speed with no air.Do I need to change my front springs? I just bought a 78 mustang II off the ebay with a 302 4 speed.(DONOR).I'm planning on using the front and rear sway bars but I didn't know if I needed the front springs or not.Thanks.
Does anybody else know whether I need to change my front springs to the mustang II ones? Thanks.
Datazz,
According to the info that I have found, the SW with 2.3 engine uses the same springs w and w/o air so you should be ok using what you have. The MII 302 springs w/o AC would also work but they will be a bit stiffer than what you have now.
Hey,Gearhead 440.I really appreciate the info. You saved me some work. Thanks a lot.
