My inlaws bought this flawless 1978 coupe, he will keep it stock for next summer, then he wants to "play" with it. Give your opinion on what he should buy for it this year to start rebuilding for the summer of 2005.(http://www.fordpinto.com/yabbse/attachments/smallgreen78.jpg)
vote away.....i'd like to see what everyone thinks!
You left out a few options such as carburated 302s or 351s or even big blocks. superchargers are nice too.
No, sorry no car i build will ever have a carb on it ;D And if i ever put a big block in ANY Pinto, it will be mine (fuel injected of course) not my inlaws!
With all the "Tuners" out there, would be nice to show them what an old school 4-banger can do.
Hey I have nothin against stock 4 bangers or mod 4 bangers or even wankels (not that any Pintos have wankels). Every engine has an inner beast.
Underdog, you just gave me a heck of an idea... I used to drag race the Rotary motors in a rear engine dragster back in the 80's, and a Rotary in a Pinto could be very interesting... Might wanna put that on the Oddball Motor Swap thread...
Kinda funny, alot of those rotary guys are pulling them, to stuff in 2.3 turbo motors, now we are talking about pulling 2.3 and stuffing in a rotary :o ;D
I think rotaries are kinda like communism... they both look great on paper but in practice!!!!!!!!!
Rotaries theoretically have no redline, but NOBODY works on them (my local Mazda dealer won't touch one after the warrantee)and their life exprctancy isn't too great
